App Has Been Submitted… The Next Steps

January 6th, 2011

I’ve been informed by the developer that the app has been submitted to Apple and is now in the review queue. While I wait for Apple to approve the B-Movie Posters app I’m going to put together the demo video and add a few new features to the site. Stay tuned and hopefully things will move quickly on Apple’s end.

A Peek At The B-Movie Posters iPhone App

December 30th, 2010

I just got the latest build of my Invasion Of The B-Movie Posters app from the developer Rob Diel. We are getting close to finally submitting this to the app store and I thought I’d share some screen shots of the app and what we have going on. There are still a few bugs and a couple design things we are tweaking, but it’s close.

The Invasion Of The B-Movie Posters app allows you to turn one of your photos into your very own B-Movie Poster. When you first launch the screen you are given the option to take a new photo or choose from your library, instead of launching right into the camera function because we thought most users would probably be using a previously taken photo.

Inside the main menu you are given a few options to adjust your photo. The most important option in my opinion is the text option. This is a sub menu where you can add different wording on top of the photo. The first being titles, sorry you can not create you own titles. I’ve created a number of pre-designed options so hopefully there will be something that will work well for you. If for whatever reason you don’t see what you are looking for, send me a message and hopefully I can add it in for a future update. With the titles there are also custom straplines which are short secondary words attached to the titles to bring it to life. Finally, in the text menu is the option to add your own credits.

Back on the main menu you can add borders, graphics and some grime to the photo for that worn, beatup look.

Within the effects menu we added a few classic options to adjust your photo. I love to add a bit of vignette to the image and it’s neat to see how the photo looks inverted. If you don’t like what you did just hit the button on the right to reset the effects.

Once your poster is created hit save, up in the upper right hand corner. Your newly created posted is then saved and you are taken to a menu where you can upload it to Facebook or share with your friends on Twitter. If you don’t want to do either of those you can just choose to create a new poster which takes you back to the home screen.

There are few other options that might be added to the app before the release but hopefully we are submitting it to the Apple app store for review soon.

We Have A Beta

October 27th, 2010

After some time, the first beta version is here. Having this first beta is a huge step forward, sure there are still some bugs we are working on. But it’s a whole different thing once you have something in your hands to play with on your iPhone. You are able to see what’s working and what needs to be re-designed. Hopefully we’ll have another beta version in the next few weeks and I can share a few screen shots with you. For now if you want to see how it’s looking you have to find Rob or I and ask for a sneak peek.

I want to make sure there are a ton of options for everyone when the Invasion of the b movie posters application finally launches. So the last few weeks I have been building a lot of the art for the application. Here are a couple mock-ups for you to check out that you will potentially be able to create with this application on your iPhone / iPod touch.

Application Design Sketches

October 25th, 2009

Doing some wireframe sketches when designing an application is very useful. You are able to think about the application a little more and hopefully avoid issues when the developer begins coding. Here is a quick photo of the rough layout for Invasion Of The B Movie Posters.

What is Invasion Of The B Movie Posters?

October 5th, 2009

Invasion Of The B Movie Posters is a B-Movie poster creator for your iPhone and iPod touch. This application is being designed by Brad Chmielewski and being developed by Robert Diel. If you’re a lover of classic or new school B-Movies then this is a perfect and fun way to make your own poster with your photos. The application allows you to take a photo with the camera or choose a photo from your library. Then simply choose some of the classic B-Movie slogans and then combine those with a variety of photo effects to create your own poster. You then can upload your newly created photo to facebook or twitter to share with a friend, or simply save it to show to your friends later

This application is still being designed and developed, so follow along here on the blog, Facebook, or on Twitter for updates on the progress.
